For many years the Brigade scratched along with enough in the bank to cover our basic needs. The Brigade was inundated with donations of this summer. Bottled water, soft drinks, snacks, lollies and even hot meals left at the shed. Despite being a ‘dry-shed’, we also got some very welcome slabs of beer to divvy up and take home. What was extraordinary was the amount of money donated. We have been able to buy equipment to safeguard our crews and enhance our fire-fighting ability. Significant purchases include; full face masks, chainsaws, blowers to clear fire breaks, pressure cleaners for our shed crew, a jump starter, shed improvements, an outside water-tap, rattle guns for changing truck tyres, soft-shackles for towing, an angle grinder for on fire-ground repairs and, importantly a security system to protect all the new equipment.
Several other items also came our way; hand-held weather stations and sat-navs for each truck. All these items make a terrific improvement to our fire-fighting resources.
We extend our thanks to everyone who made all this possible. THANK YOU FROM KANIMBLA BRIGADE!
